Welcome to my blog for the blog hop today! I want to start by thanking MemoryWorks and Simple Stories for sponsoring the blog hop. I have used the Simple Stories Generations Collection Kit and the Aug 2011 MW Express Kit which contains some of the Happy Day products in the kit. Just a little behind.;) Well, college classes are keeping me from doing scrapbooking like I used do. I wanted to get a few more projects done but ran out of time. I will post what I get done here and on the MW website. After I am done here, I will finish my layouts from the Aug11 MWE kit since I am in the creative mood. And i will then start on my projects for the new Oct11 MWE kit. I received it yesterday afternoon. Yeah!! So without further ado, here are my layouts that I have created from these awesome kits!
Note: Some of the products I used in my list are items that MW no longer carry. So don't be alarmed if you can't find it on my website.

“Keys from the past unlock doors to the future” Layout by Sharon Hill
This collection kit works great with old black and white photos and old newspaper clippings. Of course I scanned the newspaper clippings and printed them out onto photo paper. I have used original clippings but remember to spray them with a special archival spray before applying them to a project with photos. It is neat to see all the names of the relatives in the newspaper clipping.

“In Loving Memory” Layout by Sharon hill
This layout is special because of a family member who pasted away 1 month ago, 1 ½ months shy of his 81st birthday. He was a special man in all of our lives. He served and was active in many organizations in the community and also in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. This is why I used the anchor buttons I used for the centers of the flowers to honor that memory. I tucked the card from the funeral under a piece of ribbon. He was one of the grandsons of my great-grandparents pictured in the above layout.
MW Products Used:
--Prism: 12 X 12 Cardstock -- Spring Willow Dark

Never Forget..............................
I want to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. I can't believe the month is almost over. I can't believe last monday was my birthday and the week flew by! But anyhoo, today is an extra special day too. A day of remembering and memorializing. Nowadays the younger generations have forgotten the true meaning of today. To them it is considered "the first day of summer vacation" and pool parties, barbeques, and maybe see a parade. They might even shoot fireworks. Today is not about that. Today is the day to remember all the men and women in the military who lost their lives fighting for this country. They forget that the reason for them to live freely the way they do is because of the sacrifice of all those men and women. It is that sacrifice that allows us Americans to have freedom and rights. Today is a day to honor all those lost men and women.
I hope you all will take the time out of your day to watch a parade, and go to your local Memorial Day Services, usually done by veterans of the American Legion. I usually go to 2 services but this morning around 5 am I fell, like I need more pain. So that has slowed me down more. So I will miss the service by my Legion Post this year. I will go to the one in town though, closer that the Legion service. This year is extra special. I will be releasing a big red balloon in memory of 2 fallen sailors I was stationed with. It is the 20th anniversary of their deaths this year. I will release the balloon during taps.
To honor all the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the military, I created this layout in memory of them. The photos on the layouts were taken from a trip to Washington DC. The photos are of the Vietnam Women's Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and Iwo Jima Memorial.
"Never Forget" by Sharon Hill
For my final word today, I want to remind everyone to stop what you are doing at 3 pm for a moment of silence.

MemoryWorks Simple Stories Destinations Blog Hop Today
The day has finally come! And since you are here, you obviously have been to some of the other blog posts. Since I have alot of photos, I will limit my text. So sit back, enjoy, and be inspired!:)
"Travel Journal" by Sharon Hill
The travel journal is made by using Fancy Pants new Brag Book. I carefully took the book apart and reorganized the pages to the order I wanted the pages to be in. After I finished the pages, I carefully put the book back together. I even had some blank pages left. So I plan on using them on future layouts for journaling. I will cut some in half or thirds to use as journal blocks on the layout. I used some seashells I got at the beach in Antigua on the front cover of the journal. The cover was colored using the new Distress Stains. I used Vintage Photo and used the Distress inks in Aged Mahogany, Faded Jeans, and Walnut Stain. I started each section (port of call) of the book my journaling a little about the island and what we did for an excursion. Then I put photos of the excursion and then in the pockets I put tickets, receipts, brochures, etc. I also took photos of the towel critters and souvenirs I got and put them in the journal as well.
"Post Card Holder" by Sharon Hill
The post card holder looks like a backpack, hence the 2 ribbons on the back of the holder. I got the instructions from Scrapbook-Crazy website but modified it to make it much larger to hold the post cards.
"Paradise Found" Layout by Sharon Hill
So there you have it. Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to show some of the pages to the journal so you have an idea of what to do with the pages. Now the next step is for you to go to the next person in line on the Blog Hop List.

February MemoryWorks Express Kit
I know, I know! It's April. I didn't realize that it has been that long since I last posted on here. So I will skip a couple of months projects and show you all the ones I made from the February MW Express Kit. I loved this kit! Especially the heart shaped box filled with embellishments. It actually looks like a box of candy. In the paper liner cups that candy would be in, the embellishments were in each one instead of candy. So cute! And of course I did all my layouts of the love of my life, my cat Marvin.:) Enjoy the cuteness!
"Love At First Sight" Layout
I cut the tree out of one of the papers in the kit and adhered it onto cardstock.
"The Odd Couple" Layout
I cut out the flowers along the bottom edge from one of the papers in the kit and adhered it to the cardstock after I adhered my photos.
"My Sweet Valentine" Layout
"Marvin's Friends" Layout
"Catnap" Layout
"All Dressed Up" Layout
"Love, Bliss" Card
I used the paper doily that I used as a mask for the "All Dressed Up" Layout. I adhered the doily to the front of the card.
"XOXO" Card
"14 Days of Valentines" Tags
These tags you can put any kind of ticket or coupon that you create to give to your sweetheart for the first 14 days of February, one for each day. You could put things like this ticket is good for a romantic dinner, breakfast in bed, etc. Each ticket or coupon is redeemable by you only of course.
Tag #1
Tag #2
Tag #3
"Rose Bouquet"
I made the roses out of the paper in the kit. One of the papers was light pink with different sized and colored words on it. I used Barn Door Distress Ink to cover all that up to make the petals red to go with the petals from the other paper.
There you have it. All my projects I made using the February kit. This was my assigned month as a MW TeamWorks member so I got my kit early and had a deadline to complete everything. Then my projects were posted on the MW Blog during February along with other projects from my fellow team members who were also assigned that month as well.
So until next time.....
Happy Scrappin'!
